The Sherwin-Williams Company R&D Technician in Cleveland, Ohio

The Commercialization Engineering Team is seeking a technician to support the commercialization process for new and existing paint products. This role is accountable for routine experiments, recording results, and demonstrating basic knowledge of raw materials and basic equipment/computing tools to capture and record data. Has familiarity with scientific principles, products and/ or processes. Independently performs basic tasks with progress and results infrequently checked except when working on more complex operations. Responsibilities Include: * Supporting commercialization product validation and continuous improvement projects * Performing lab testing including scale ups, test method testing and heat age stability * Support of routine experiments, recording results and learning basic knowledge of equipment/computing tools to capture and record data * Communication within the project team regarding project needs and status * Developing basic knowledge and understanding of processing and raw materials * Executes and analyzes experiments and provides regular updates * Establishes timeline for assignments based on priorities with assistance from their supervisor. Identifies and resolves hurdles. * Writes basic reports, outlines procedures used, and results obtained. * Recognizes problems and implements corrective actions to resolve the issue. * Analyzes data, begins to draw conclusions, and make recommendations. * Proficient in operating moderately complex lab instruments. * Other duties as assigned FORMAL EDUCATION: Required: * Must have a High School Diploma KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Required: * Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills * Excellent organization and planning skills * Proven problem-solving / decision-making ability * Previous experience in a lab setting Preferred: * Previous Commercialization and/or paint making experience * Ability to interact effectively with various levels of technical experience * Previous experience in a lab setting * 2 or more years of experience in a lab setting Sherwin-Williams is proud to be an Affirmative Action, Equal Employment Opportunity, Inclusion and Diversity Supportive Employer.
