Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer IIIAssists with design, computer operations and plan preparation.Develops and reviews engineering related documents, correspondence, reports and remediation plans.Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.Makes presentations and represents TxDOT.May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.Performs pavement designs and makes recommendations.Provides technical assistance in drainage design, resolution of drainage complaints, hydraulics evaluations and other hydrology matters.Trains engineering staff.Uses department's enterprise Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule and resource management tool to accomplish scheduling and resource management of transportation projects.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.Transportation Engineer IVIncludes all essential duties listed for Transportation Engineer III as well as:Assists Project Managers to establish realistic and achievable schedule baselines for highly complex projects.Performs highly advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.Responsible for all design and plan preparation for the district's Central Design Section.Leads/Trains professional and administrative staff.Performs and coordinates the review and processing of Plans, Specifications Estimates (PSE) submission, special specifications or special provisions.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
